  • Enclosed in the ranges of Karakoram and the Himalayas, Ladakh deserves to be called “small Tibet”. An old kingdom incorporated into India whose history was related to Tibet and whose valleys are the most living bastions of the Tibetan Buddhism.

We travel through three of the five main regions of Ladakh:

The Indus valley, which offers fabulous and rough landscapes alternating with vast and green oases, constitutes the major axis of Ladakh. The valley is full of all the colors of Ladakhi’s lives and their Buddhist and Tibetan cultures. The most prestigious monasteries of Ladakh are the soul of this valley. These Gompas are decorated with splendid frescoes, which force us to evoke the multiple aspects of their thoughts.

Nubra located in the north of Leh is somewhere reminiscent of the "Desert of the Tartars", with its dunes and its camels of Bactriane! While going through 5 passes at an altitude of 5000 m, this valley is situated on the caravan road that connects Leh to Kasghar (one of the large cities of the main Silk Road, situated at present in China).

Rupshu is the Indian part of the Changtang Tibet located in the South-east of Ladakh. The landscapes are infinitely beautiful and luminous and the areas are huge with an intense wildlife. These nomadic Changpas will amaze you with their dried meat and their tea with salted butter!
