  • Each year, in October/November during full moon, hundreds of pilgrims purify themselves in the sacred waters of Pushkar Lake. Combining business with religion, they participate in a large cattle fair in the dunes trading camels, horses, cows, goats and sheeps.

This colorful celebration attracts tens of thousands of Indians: ranchers, farmers, sadhus, jumpers, and simple pilgrims. A kind of medieval mystery in a setting of Arabian Nights.

Tens of thousands of camels spread out all over the dunes, this is the first sight that greets your eyes in the Pushkar fair, an event which brings together all the breeders and merchants of camels and horses of North India and buyers who come from far and wide.
