Day 1: Colombo - Negombo │ Welcome to Sri Lanka
Welcome to Sri Lanka! You will be met at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo by your driver who will transfer you to your hotel in Negombo. Negombo is one of Sri Lanka’s largest cities on the west coast that is famous for its white sand beaches as well as the city’s cultural heritage. If you arrive early you will be able to explore the city discovering Sri Lanka’s charm on your first day. Your driver will take you to your hotel where you will spend the night.
Day 2: Negombo – Kandy │ Diving Into Central Sri Lanka
After breakfast at your hotel in Negombo, your driver will meet you to transfer you to Kandy. This 4 hour drive from the west coast of Sri Lanka to central Sri Lanka takes you through the beautiful cities where you can stop to enjoy the countryside views. Once checked-in and refreshed at your hotel in Kandy you can choose to simply make the most of your beautiful colonial hotel and its facilities or instead walk around the area and visit the surrounding villages, home to the kind locals.
Day 3: Kandy │ The Temple of The Tooth
Begin your day at a leisurely pace enjoying breakfast at your hotel before being met by your chauffeur-guide who will take you into Kandy. Once in Kandy you can spend the day walking around the lake and enjoying the peacefulness which is associated with this hill country city. At sunset head to the unforgettable Temple of The Tooth to attend the evening ceremony for an experience like no other. After spending the day in Kandy, your driver will meet you to take you back to your hotel for the night.
Day 4: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya │ Onwards to Sri Lanka’s Tea Country
Spend the morning relaxing at your hotel or exploring the surrounding areas after breakfast before being met by your chauffeur-guide who will transfer you to the heart of the Tea Country: Nuwara Eliya. This two hour journey south takes you through lush greenery, passing past beautiful landscapes and through quaint villages. You can choose to take the train to Nuwara Eliya instead for an authentic Sri Lanka experience. Upon arrival in Nuwara Eliya your driver will take you to your hotel to check in for the night.
Day 5: Nuwara Eliya │ The Heart of The Island
Wake up in Nuwara Eliya, also known as the City of Lights. Nuwara Eliya is blessed with breathtaking views of valleys, mountains, meadows and greenery which calm you from within. Nuwara Eliya is sometimes referred to as ‘Little England’ as it was the favourite hill station of the British due to is close proximity to Colombo but the refreshing climate. The city is home to an old brick Post office, and country club which mirrors that of a country house and even a race course. It’s hard not to feel as if you have been transported back in time to Colonial British Ceylon.
Day 6: Nuwara Eliya – Horton Plains – Nuwara Eliya│ Unforgettable Landscapes
In the morning after breakfast at your hotel your chauffeur-guide will meet you to take you to Horton Plains. Upon arrival at Horton Plains you can choose to go on an open top jeep safari round the national park, taking in the beautiful site and spotting incredible animals in their natural habitat. Enjoy lunch in the park before continuing your exploration of the grounds. Your chauffeur-guide will be at your disposal to take you back to your hotel in Nuwara Eliya in the evening.
Day 7: Nuwara Eliya – Galle│ Exploring, Cruising and Discovering
In the morning after breakfast at your hotel your driver will meet you to transfer you to Galle. This is a long drive south will take you through some of Sri Lanka’s thickest and most lush greenery, with beautiful landscapes stretching out in front of you. Whilst on the road you will stop at small villages to discover Sri Lankan day to day life as well as enjoy authentic cuisine. Upon arrival in Galle you will check-in to your hotel where you can eat dinner and rest after your long day of travel.
Day 8: Galle│ Sri Lanka’s West Coast
Arise with the sun in the coastal city of Galle. This city on Sri Lanka’s west coast is beaming with history and culture, from the famous Galle Fort to the Dutch churches. After breakfast your chauffeur-guide will take you into the city to begin a guided tour of the city. After your city tour spend the rest of the day exploring this coastal town, visiting the museums and local coffee shops that still have both a Dutch and Portuguese feel to them.
Day 9: Galle│ Seaside Fun and Relaxtion
Today is your day! Galle has a whole range of activities to offer from cycle tours through the city and surrounding villages to scuba diving trips. If you prefer to relax on white sand beaches and paddle in crystal clear water and snorkel with the fishes then we recommend a day at Unawatuna Beach which is blessed with beautifully soft sand and waving palm trees. If you’re looking for relaxation at the end of your holiday then this is most definitely the place for you!
Day 10: Galle │ Transport to Airport for Departure
Today’s rising sun marks the last day of your holiday in Sri Lanka with Shanti Travel. After sharing stories over breakfast, your driver will meet you to take you to the international airport in Colombo. Flight dependent, you may have the time to head into Galle or Colombo to do some last minute souvenir shopping as memories from your Sri Lankan holiday.
