  • Shekhawati was once on the caravan route from the ports of Gujarat in the south to Asia Minor in the West. Often overlooked in tours in Rajasthan, Shekhawati offers travelers a very well preserved culture, architecture and traditions all in a semi-desert region with rich sites still out of tourists reach.

Shekhawati is famous for its magnificent havelis with frescoes on walls-more or less well preserved. The most beautiful havellis are in the traditional villages of Mandawa, Nawalgarh, Fatehpur and Mahansar.

For the past 15 years, this region has been hosting, in February, one of the most important cultural festivals in India, bringing together local villagers and foreigners. Surya Mandal Stadium in Nawalgarh hosts famous artists and craftsmen from across Rajasthan to showcase their talent. Crafts lovers will deepen their knowledge by attending workshops and seminars while taking the time to visit the famous havelis, forts and temples of the region.

The 19th Annual Shekhawati Heritage Festival will be held on February 8-10, 2014 in Nawalgarh, Rajasthan. If you wish to attend, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will adjust the itinerary according to your wishes.
