D 1 : Delhi - Paro - Thimphu (2 300 m) [3 H flight + 2 H drive - 60 Km]
Welcome at the Paro airport and drive to Thimphu. In the valley of Paro visit Simthoka Dzong and after a few kilometers away, the magnificent views of the majestic Jhomolhari peak at 7316 m. Late afternoon free and overnight at the hotel.
D 2 : Thimphu (2350 m)]
After breakfast, visit the Chorten Memorial at the time of prayer. Then visit the temple of Changangkha dated 15th century and where the faithful come on foot to pray. Enjoy your presence in Thimphu to visit the Folk Heritage Museum, a true testament to the lifestyle and traditions of Bhutan. For those who wish, there is also possibility to visit a tissue paper factory and Tangkha painting school. Not to mention the walk to local market and Tashicho Dzong late in the day. Overnight at hotel.
D 3 : Thimphu – Gangtey (2200m) [4 H – 140 Km]
On 3rd day you cross Dochula pass situated at 3200 m. The view is beautiful at this altitude. Once past the pass, descend and see a surprising change in environment: a temperate zone with rhododendrons and magnolias sublime landscape, you arrive in a place where tropical orange, cactus and bamboo dominate.
Then visit the Chimi Lhakhang temple built by Lam Drukpa Kuenley. The tradition is that the Bhutanese couples expecting a child go here to pray. You continue to descend to reach the Wangdiphodrang Dzong, built at the strategic junction of Tangmachu and Sunkosh rivers. True boundary between central Bhutan and eastern Bhutan, this 17th century temple is a place where the lucky can see the famous "Black Necked Crane,” unfortunately an endangered species. By late afternoon, visit the spectacular monastery of Gangtey Gompa. Overnight at hotel.
D 4: Gangtey – Paro (2300 m) [7/8 H - 190 Km]
Leave the valley of Phobjikha and take road westward through the Dochula pass at 3200 m. Along this road, almost as much as 108 chortens, Buddhist stupas were built. Enjoy superb views of the surrounding countryside and the Himalayan range in North. Then go around Thimphu, the capital, to reach the valley of Paro. Overnight at the hotel.
D 5 : Paro (2300m)]
The day begins with a visit to Taktsang Monastery, nicknamed "Tiger Refuge." Hung over 3000m on a cliff, it is one of the most revered Buddhist pilgrimage places in the Himalayas. To get there, no other choice than to take a path along the trees decorated with prayer flags. This hike is beautiful. Steep slopes should not discourage you. The feeling of satisfaction once you have arrived at the monastery is well worth the effort. You take the same way back to Paro. Overnight at hotel.
D 6: Paro - Delhi [3H Flight]
Morning transfer to Paro airport to take the flight to Delhi. Welcome at the airport in New Delhi. Transfer to the hotel. Afternoon at leisure in Delhi. End of our services.
