1st day: Delhi – Madurai via Chennai
Early morning, flight to Madurai, cultural capital of Tamil Nadu, via Chennai. Welcome at the airport and check in to hotel. Night in hotel.

2nd day: Madurai
Cultural capital of Tamil Nadu, Madurai has a huge and amazing Dravidian temple, the Meenakshi Temple. Dedicated to Shiva and Parvathi (here Meenakshi, who has fish eyes), this very central holy place and its really high gopuram, is visible from all over town. Explore its cover market and its small bronze museum. In the afternoon, visit the Gandhi museum. This museum is one of the best in South India. After the dawn, go back to the temple area and enjoy the procession of the divinity all around the temple. Back to the hotel. Night in hotel.

3rd day: Madurai – Tanjavur via Trichy [180 Km – 5/6 H drive]
In the morning, we leave Madurai towards Thanjavur; on the way, we’ll stop in Trichy (Tiruchirappally) to visit its 3 beautiful temples: the Rock Fort, topped by the 17th century Vinayaka (Ganesh) Temple; the Jambukeshawara Temple dedicated to Shiva and the huge Ranganathaswami Temple, located Srirangam, 6 Km only from Trichy (Vishnu dedicated). The later is so big that it covers almost an entire village.
You will then continue till Thanjavur to discover its brilliant Brihadishwara Temple, built in 1010 for the King Rajaraja I, out of Sandstone. Go and visit during the dusk to get the best light effect. Later on, you reach your hotel; night in hotel.

4th day: Tanjavur – Pondichery via Chidambaram [210 Km – 5/6 H drive]
In the morning, visit the palace and the beautiful Thanjavur Art Gallery to discover the great collection of Chola bronzes. Then, we drive toward Pondicherry. On the way, we visit Chidambaram and the exquisite Sabhanayaka Nataraja temple, which is one of the holiest Hindu sites in South India. Continue on to Pondicherry. Check in to the hotel and stroll in the old French hold. Night in hotel.

5th day: Pondichery
Visit the ancient French colony where the influence of this far away country is still very visible. Beyond architecture and town structure, enjoy the food, the bakeries and people playing pétanque game. Discover its multiple influences: Hindu, Muslim, Christian, French and Tamil cultures all live together here. Walk around and enjoy the mix of all these influences. Transfer to the hotel. Night in hotel.

6th & 7th day: Pondichery – The Dune [10 Km – 20 minutes drive]
In the morning, we drive to The Dune, a magnificent and astonishing eco – village located a mere 15 km from Pondicherry, on the sea side. Here, you can enjoy a lot of activities: boating, yoga classes, spa, and balloon shooting (for kids). Rest and relax at The dune.

8th day: The Dune –Chennai Airport via Mahabalipuram [155 Km – 3H drive]
In the morning, we drive to Mahabalipuram (now Mamallapuram). The village, surrounded by stones and boulders, was once upon a time the main port of the Pallava Dynasty (5th-9th century). Visit the beautiful and well known reliefs and temples located along the ocean. The stone carving tradition which made Mamallapuram so famous is still very alive and you can enjoy, at each and every corner of the village, a craftsman at work. This fabulous site has been recognized as World Heritage by the UNESCO in 1995. We continue on to Chennai ; transfer to the airport for your return flight to Delhi. End of our services.
