  • Contained in chains of the Karakoram and the Himalayas, Ladakh undoubtedly deserves the name of "Little Tibet". Ancient kingdom annexed to India and whose story was related to Tibet, the high valleys of Ladakh is one of the liveliest bastions of Tibetan Buddhism.

We furrow 2 of the 5 major regions of Ladakh:

The Indus Valley, which offers fabulous scenery of vastness and harshness punctuated by green oases, it forms the major part of Ladakh. Around it are composed many colorful pictures of Ladakhi daily life with the Tibetan and Buddhist cultural dominant. It is in the Indus Valley that focus the most prestigious monasteries in Ladakh. These gompas are decorated with splendid frescoes that will evoke the many aspects of these currents of thought.

The Nubra, located at the north of Leh, is not without reminding us the mood of "Desert of the Tartars", with its dunes and camels of Bactria! The valley was on the caravan route that connected to Leh Kasghar (one of the main cities of the Silk Road, currently in China), to five passes over 5000 m altitude.
