Rajasthan, the perfect introduction to India, takes you into a world straight out of a Thousand and one Nights.
After Jaipur we visit the famous Taj Mahal in Agra before crossing the Gangetic plain to reach Varanasi. En route we come to Allahabad, an important place of pilgrimage, where the Yamuna meets the Ganges, on which we embark in a traditional boat.
We then set off to Nepal on a journey which takes us from Lumbini, where Buddha was born, to Pokhara, via Chitwan, a former hunting reserve of the Nepalese kings, now a national park. Then free to explore the Kathmandu valley, with its sanctuaries and stupas, in the dazzling setting of the Himalayan peaks.
This programme, which takes you from the Ganges and unforgettable Varanasi to the legendary valley of Kathmandu, introduces you to the holiest cultural sites and natural settings of both Hinduism and Buddhism- these are amongst the most magical places in India and Nepal.
