Therefore, Shanti Travel is committed to respecting the privacy and security of your personal and financial information provided. At Shanti Travel, we use your information to provide you with the best services but our main duty is to get this information safe, and to use it the way you want it.
Therefore, our main objectives are to:

  • Apply standards of security and confidentiality in order to keep you information as secure as possible,
  • Allow only authorized employees to access your information in order to communicate, improve our services and run our business,
  • Communicate your information with your prior approval to third parties and when you have confirmed your interest for specific services (hotels, activities, cruises…),

The type information we collect and hold

Shanti Travel uses to collect general information. When you send us an enquiry, we generally ask for the following types of personal information:

  • Name, address, email, phone numbers, city, country
  • Travel related information: destinations you are interested in, how many persons are supposed to travel with you, your budget, the dates of travel and/or any tour requirements and preferences.
  • Other details such as passport details, insurance travels, credit cards details, flight tickets. We also collect IP addresses in order to get some basic statistics such as the number of visits, the bounce rate, the location of our visitors. This kind of information will allow Shanti Travel to provide bespoke and superior service to our guests.

However, we never collect:

  • Sensitive information such as religion, politics, race or health unless the services you ask us to provide requires it (e.g. access for disabled persons, access to a medical center in case of emergency during your trip…)
  • Personal information from children under the age of eighteen unless the written consent of parents is written unless the services you ask us to provide requires it (e.g. access for disabled kids)

  • From inquiry forms on our website, or written forms during events, or on our social media,
  • From online booking engines on our partners websites when you enquire on a program or when you want to get a bespoke quotation (you can refer to the “Third Parties” section which details the list of partners we collect your information from,
  • From one to one conversation during our events or personalized calls over the phone, mobile or any messaging technologies with our travel experts,
  • From tour leaders who is in charge of a travel and who will have get the approval of all guests to provide their Personal Information to Shanti Travel in order for us to offer the most personalized services ,
  • From emails your send to our contacts email addresses,
  • From booking and feedback forms.
Your personal information is hold for a duration supposed to be necessary for the following purposes:
  • Newsletters and commercial offers: your information is hold as long as you do not unsubscribe. You can change this setting and unsubscribe at any time - see paragraph "Removal from our marketing lists or access to your personal information”.
  • Quotation request for a trip, realization of the trip: your information will be hold from the realization of your quotation to the realization of your trip.
  • If you do not contact us for a period of five years, we will archive your personal data for five additional years before final deletion.

Booking terms & conditions

The booking terms and conditions of Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) are detailed in this document. All bookings with Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) are subject to the terms and conditions and limitations of liability as mentioned here. By making a booking with Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd), you are agreeing to these terms and conditions. In the event of a contradiction between the terms and conditions mentioned here, on Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) itineraries and documents or those posted on the Internet sites of Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd), the latter will apply.


1 - Booking and payment

1.1. All bookings are handled by the Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) team of Travel Advisors (by email or telephone) or via our websites. Bookings are finalised only upon payment and the completion and receipt of the Participant Information form.

1.2 Booking Confirmation, Deposit and Modes of payment:

a. Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) will provide via email the Travel Itinerary, the Booking Confirmation document with our bank account and payment method details, and the deposit amount required to secure your booking plus the booking terms and conditions.
b. Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) will email the Participant Information form, which must be completed by the customer and submitted to Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) by email.
c. A deposit of 50% of the total amount of the booking must be paid by international bank transfer or credit card payment online via our bank’s payment portal within 7 days of the issuance of the Booking Confirmation. If the deposit is not received by Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) within this time, the booking may be cancelled without notice.

Caution: In India, a hotel reservation is confirmed only by making an advance payment to the hotel. We pre-reserve your first choice of hotel in each destination (subject to availability); these pre-reservations are generally valid for 8 days. Flight and rail availability is also limited on many of the popular sectors in India and tickets can only be confirmed with payment in full. We kindly request that you pay the 50% deposit quickly so as to give us the best chance of confirming your first choice of hotels and transport sectors.

d. Credit Card Transactions. Shanti Travel accept Visa and Mastercard credit card payments via our online payment portal. If for any reason, any travel service provider is unable to provide the services for which you have contracted, your remedy lies against that provider, and not against Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) and in the event that payment has been made to Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) by credit card, you agree that you will not seek to charge back your payment to Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd).
e. After Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) receive the 50% deposit and confirm your reservations, you will receive an invoice showing the receipt of the deposit and the remaining balance (50%). Please be aware that international bank transfers can take between 48 hours and 15 days to process.
f. The outstanding balance of the invoice is to be paid to Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) at least 21 days prior to arrival in India by bank transfer or online credit card payment. In some cases, such as group, conference or incentive bookings the balance will have to be paid 1 month prior to arrival.
g. For all bookings where travel is within 21 days, full payment is due immediately at the time of booking.

h. Any delay in the payment of the deposit or balance may result in the cancellation of your booking.

i. For travel to Bhutan, the outstanding balance of the invoice is to be paid to Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) at least 60 days prior to arrival in India by bank transfer or online credit card payment.

j. For all Bhutan bookings where travel is within 60 days, full payment is due immediately at the time of booking.


2 - Travel information

2.1. Passports and Visas

All travellers listed on the Participant Information form must be in possession of a valid passport and all relevant visas. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have valid travel documentation, including but not limited to passports and visas, which meet the requirements of immigration and other government authorities at every destination. Please refer to your nearest Indian Consulate for more information regarding visa requirements. If your itinerary includes travel to any other country besides India, please check on visa requirements for each country that you will visit. All passports require at least 6 months of validity from the planned date of departure from India. Any fines, penalties, payments or expenditures incurred as a result of such documents not meeting the requirements of those authorities will be your sole responsibility.

Attention: If your travel itinerary includes travel to India and any other country (Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, Sri Lanka etc), you may require a multiple entry Indian Tourist visa. You will be required to present your travel itinerary and documentation at the time of application for the visa. Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) can provide you with the necessary travel documentation upon request.

2.2 Non Transferable. It should be noted that all travel documents issued are non- transferable. Such documents may include but are not limited to, airline tickets, hotel vouchers, tour vouchers, exchange orders or any other document used to confirm an arrangement with a service provider. Such documents may also be subject to conditions such as, but not limited to, being non-refundable, non-date-changeable and subject to cancellation or amendment fees.

2.3. Health and Safety Information. Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) advises you to regularly consult your country of residence’s department of foreign affairs website. Here you will find any information pertaining to safe travel in India and its surrounding countries. Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) advises you to regularly consult the information provided by the proper authorities on the medical risks associated with travel to India or its surrounding countries. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are aware of any health requirements for your travel destinations and to ensure that you carry all necessary vaccination documentation. Please consult your travel doctor for more information.


3 - Changes requested by the customer before departure and during the trip

All changes to bookings will incur charges. These charges can be up to 100% of the cost of the booking, regardless of whether travel has commenced. Where we incur any liability for a change fee or charge for any booking which you change, you agree to indemnify us for the amount of that fee or charge. Your refusal to pay any reasonable change fees will be regarded as a cancellation of your booking.

Change fees for all confirmed bookings where a Booking Confirmation has been issued and a deposit has been received by Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) are detailed here with exception of cases covered at point 4.3 below:

• Changes made by you prior to departure: a change fee of (20 €), flight change fee (15 € per person per ticket plus any fare difference, except in the case of non changeable airfares, where 100% of the cost of the new ticket will be charged), any additional supplier change fees.

Please advise Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) of the changes to your travel plans as early as possible by e-mail, telephone, or fax. Most hotels, airlines and suppliers charge a 100% cancellation penalty for changes to bookings between 7 days and 24 hours of departure. This may result in the forfeit of your deposit on these bookings.


4 – Cancellation conditions and fees

To adapt to the exceptional situation, the terms and conditions below, more flexible, will be apply. Valid for trips travelled in 2020 and 2021 and confirmed between August 1 and December 31, 2020.

Deposit (excluding France and Japan destinations)

  • 20% of the total price of the trip must be paid to confirm the reservation (Previously 50%)
  • Administrative fees for cancellations (excluding France and Japan destinations)
  • Free of charge (Previously 150/200 €)


Cancellation fees (excluding France and Japan destinations)

  • More than 31 days prior to arrival: 100% refund of the sums paid by the traveller
  • Between 30 and 15 days prior to arrival: 50% of the total amount of the trip will be held
  • Between 14 days and 7 days prior to arrival: 75% of the total amount of the trip will be held
  • Less than 7 days prior to arrival: 100% of the total amount of the trip will be held


For France and Japan destinations

  • The usual terms and conditions will apply (please refer 4.2)

All cancellations of bookings will incur charges. These charges can be up to 100% of the cost of the booking, regardless of whether travel has commenced. Where we incur any liability for a cancellation fee or charge for any booking which you cancel, you agree to indemnify us for the amount of that fee or charge.

4.1. To cancel your booking with Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd), please notify your travel insurance company and Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) in writing, stating the reason for the cancellation. Request an acknowledgement of receipt of your email or letter. Any cancellation fees will be calculated according to the date of receipt of the written advice of the cancellation of your booking. Please read your travel insurance policy carefully or contact your insurance provider to determine the policy conditions, level of cover and documentation required to make a claim against cancellation penalties charged by Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) or any of its suppliers.

4.2. Cancellation Fees
4.2.1. Cancellation fees for all confirmed bookings where a Booking Confirmation has been issued and a deposit has been received by Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) are detailed here with exception of cases covered at point 4.3 below:

  • Cancellation more than 45 days prior to departure: The deposit paid by you will be refunded after the following fees are deducted: bank charges (60 €), booking fee (40 €), flight cancellation fee (15 € per person per ticket, except in the case of non refundable airfares, where 100% of the cost of the ticket will be deducted).
  • Cancellation between 45 and 31 days prior to departure: the total amount deposited will be reimbursed. After the following fees are deducted: bank charges (60 €), booking fee (40 €), flight cancellation fee (15 € per person per ticket, except in the case of non refundable airfares, where 100% of the cost of the ticket will be deducted).
  • Cancellation between 30 and 15 days prior to departure : 50% of total amount will be kept. The remaining 50% will be refunded after the following fees are deducted: bank charges (60 €), booking fee (40 €), flight cancellation fee (15 € per person per ticket, except in the case of non refundable airfares, where 100% of the cost of the ticket will be deducted).
  • For Luxury and Comfort Superior tours, 75% of total amount will be kept.
  • Cancellation between 14 and 3 days prior to departure : 75% of total amount will be kept. The remaining 25% will be refunded after the following fees are deducted: bank charges (60 €), booking fee (40 €), flight cancellation fee (15 € per person per ticket, except in the case of non refundable airfares, where 100% of the cost of the ticket will be deducted).
  • Cancellation after 3 days prior to departure: 100% of total amount will be kept.
     
  • Caution: In case of cancellation by you, promptly notify Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) – (Email, phone or fax). The no-show on the departure date for any reason does not entitle to any refund. Any travel interrupted or shortened because of the participant for any reason does not entitle to any refund.
     
  • Special events: extra amounts may be kept in case of travel during special festival (for instance but only during Pushkar fair, Christmas and New Year)
     
  • Bhutan Bookings - Cancellation less than 30 days prior to departure: 100% cancellation fee applies. No Refund is applicable on Bhutan bookings that are cancelled within 30 days of travel.

Please advise Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) of the cancellation of your booking as early as possible by e-mail, telephone, or fax. Most hotels, airlines and suppliers charge a 100% cancellation penalty for cancellations between 7 days and 24 hours of departure. Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) will be unable to provide a refund for any such bookings.

4.2.2. For any booking, either fixed group departure or customized itinerary, if one or more participant travellers cancel their booking, and the itinerary will still be travelled by one or more participants, the per person price for the booking will be increased by cost of the cancelled participants share divided by the number of remaining participants. Any refusal of acceptance of the new per person cost will be regarded as a cancellation of the booking, and will be subject to the cancellation fees mentioned in point 4.

4.3 Cancellation fees for partial cancellation (valid for fixed departure group itineraries). If one or more participant registered on the same itinerary cancels their participation in an itinerary that will still be maintained for the other participants, the cancellation fees mentioned above (point 4.2.1) will be calculated for the participant who cancels on:

• The per person cost of the services remaining unused at the time of cancellation for example flights and rail tickets
• The full cost of the booking for the services booked on a group basis divided by the number of participants for example ground transportation and hotels

4.4. Refunds. All refunds will processed within 12 weeks from the date of cancellation.

* Effective for the trips booked on and after 4th June 2015.


5 - Insurance

Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) and its Directors are insured against professional and civil liability by The Raheja QBE General Insurance Company Limited (10-P0000861-PID).

Liability: Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) does not accept any liability of whatever nature, whether in contract, tort or otherwise, for the acts, omissions or default, whether negligent or otherwise, of any service provider, over whom we have no direct control. Under circumstances where liability cannot be excluded, such liability is limited to the value of the purchased travel arrangements. We do not accept any liability in contract, tort or otherwise for any injury, damage, loss, delay, additional expense or inconvenience caused directly or indirectly by force majeure or any other event which is beyond our control or which is not preventable by reasonable diligence on our part. In particular, but without limitation to these conditions, we accept no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury you suffer as a result of terrorism, war (including civil-war), coup, riot, civil disturbance or any type of criminal act. It is your responsibility to inform yourself about the safety and security situation in the places you are travelling to.

Travel Insurance: Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) recommends that you take out a personal travel insurance policy including repatriation cover to protect you against the above mentioned risks. Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) does not provide travel insurance. Please ensure that you take out a travel insurance policy that covers you for any adventure activities that you are participating in such as mountain trekking or scuba diving. For travel to high mountain regions and alpine areas, a specific insurance policy covering the expenses of search, rescue and repatriation in the event of an accident or illness is required. You will be asked to provide a copy of your travel insurance policy to Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) as well as policy details when you complete the Participant Information form at the time of booking. Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) also requests that you provide the contact details for a person to contact in case of emergency. Please make sure you have a copy of your travel insurance policy with you at all times. You are responsible for lodging any claims on your travel insurance policy (our guides and local staff assist you if required). Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) will assist you by contacting your Travel Insurance provider if you are incapacitated or unable to contact them, and will provide the invoices of any expenses incurred by you.


6 - Price

All prices are subject to availability and can be withdrawn or changed without notice.

6.1. Fixed Departure Group Itinerary Bookings

Please see our website for all prices. The price per person for the itinerary is based on the minimum number of participants mentioned in the offer of the itinerary (generally 3 participants). If less than the minimum numbers of participants register for the itinerary, Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) may need to change some components or logistics of the itinerary in order to guarantee the departure specified in our offer. In the event of this occurring, Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) may need to charge an additional “small groups” charge. You will be notified of this charge at least 21 days prior to the departure of the itinerary. This charge will be refunded to you if the minimum number of participants is achieved for the itinerary.

After the confirmation of the booking, the price of the itinerary can be changed if the price of flights transport, hotels or activities exceeds the price that was budgeted for in our quoted price for the itinerary. This supplement will be advised to you in the final invoice that will be emailed to you at least one week prior to departure.

6.2. "A la carte" and Customized Itinerary Bookings

Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) gives you the option you to personalize your itinerary, activities, mode of transport and to give you flexibility in travel dates, however until the itinerary and the travel dates are fixed, the price is subject to change. The price of the itinerary will be quoted to you on the travel itinerary provided to you by Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd); this price is valid for 7 days or as per the validity date, whichever is the sooner.

After the confirmation of the booking, the price of the itinerary can be changed if the price of flights, transport, hotels or activities exceeds the price that was budgeted for in our quoted price for the itinerary. This supplement will be advised to you in the final invoice that will be emailed to you at least one week prior to departure.

6.3. All Travel Bookings
All prices are valid for 7 days. After this time all prices are subject to change due to currency fluctuations. All quotes are subject to availability. Please confirm your booking as soon as possible to secure the quoted price and availability.

All prices are subject to change until paid in full due to currency fluctuations or government tax increases. After the deposit has been received, the outstanding balance is due 21 days prior to arrival. This balance amount is subject to change. If there is more than a 5% difference in the total price due to currency fluctuations or government tax increases between the time of booking (when Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) receives proof of payment of deposit) and the time of final payment, Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) will modify the price and inform you accordingly at least 21 days prior to arrival in India.

For any booking, either fixed or customized itinerary, if one or more participant travellers cancel their booking, and the itinerary will still be travelled by one or more participant travellers, the per person price for the booking will be increased by cost of the cancelled participants share divided by the number of remaining participants. Any refusal of acceptance of the new per person cost will be regarded as a cancellation of the booking, and will be subject to the cancellation fees mentioned in point 4.

Your refusal to pay any reasonable adjustments to the price of your itinerary will be regarded as a cancellation of your booking.


7 – Additional booking information to consider

7.1. Sometimes at the time of creating and quoting your travel itinerary, we do not know the exact details of your international flights. Consequently, as a precaution Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) considers that the first and last day of your itinerary are entirely devoted to travel to and from your country of origin. However sometimes these days can finally include services such as activities, accommodation and transportation and this may affect the final cost of the itinerary.

7.2. All of our travel itineraries unless otherwise stated, are based on twin share accommodation. Single rooms may be available on request, if available we will advise you of the additional cost which will be shown as a supplement on your itinerary and quotation.

7.3. Special Terms and Conditions for High Altitude Mountain Itineraries

Supervisory staff chosen by Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) or its partners to accompany a group of travellers (guides for high mountain treks, guides for medium mountain treks etc) may from time to time modify the planned itinerary to ensure the safety and enjoyment of the travellers, and to account for any unforeseen circumstances. Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd), via its representatives or staff, may also according to the climactic conditions, physical competency of the travellers and/or situations that arise, modify or adapt the itinerary and/or request the presence of an additional guide. Any additional expenses in these situations will be the responsibility of the travellers. If any participant decides not to complete the itinerary for whatever reason, Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) will not provide any refund.

7.4. After your booking has been confirmed, it is possible to extend your itinerary. Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) will create a new itinerary and quotation. Any additional services and expenses will be invoiced to you by Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) according to the changes that are required. The new invoice will be emailed to you 21 days prior to arrival. All changes and requests are subject to availability.


8 - Maximum number of participants in fixed departure group itineraries and participants under the age of 18

8.1. Unless otherwise stated, the maximum number of participants in any fixed departure group itinerary is 12 people. However, the maximum number can be increased if any of the participants are travelling with another person on a twin share basis. The services will not be modified and the itinerary, activities, services, inclusions and price will be identical.

8.2. Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) will only accept bookings from people 18 years age or older. Any booking for an unaccompanied minor will be confirmed by Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) only with the prior written consent of the parents or legal guardian. All unaccompanied minors must carry the relevant exit documents from their country of origins authorities permitting them to travel abroad without parents or legal guardian. Any minors who travel with only one parent, teachers or other unrelated adults, it is advisable to carry prior written consent of the parents or legal guardian and all official documents necessary to permit travel without both parents or legal guardian. The minor traveler should also carry the travel itinerary, as well as the name, addresses and telephone numbers of his/her parents.


9 – Responsibility

Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) does not accept any liability of whatever nature, whether in contract, tort or otherwise in the following circumstances:

  • Loss or flight tickets or other vouchers or travel documents by the traveler;
  • For the acts, omissions or default, whether negligent or otherwise, of any service provider, over whom we have no direct control;
  • Invalid or inadequate Travel Insurance, identification, passport, visa or vaccinations;
  • Any loss, damage or injury you suffer as a result of unforeseeable and insurmountable incidents or events including but not limited to: terrorism, war (including civil-war), coup, riot, civil disturbance or any type of criminal act, strikes external to Shanti Travel ( Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd), technical or administrative failures external to Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd), obstruction of airspace, bankruptcy of a supplier or partner of Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd), bad weather, natural disaster, delays, including delays in postal services in the case of sending replacement plane tickets, passports etc, breakdowns, loss of luggage or other personal effects or misconnection of flights or other modes of transport. Any delays or necessary changes to an itinerary due to the above mentioned causes will be at the expense of the traveler. Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) will not provide any compensation or refunds in such situations. Possible additional expenses related to any of the situations mentioned above including but not limited to taxes, hotel, car park fees or replacement and /or reissue of travel documents will remain the responsibility of the traveler.
  • Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) reserves the right to change the dates, schedules or routes of itineraries, or cancel bookings to ensure the safety of the travellers and/or at the injunction of an administrative authority, as necessitated by unforeseeable and insurmountable incidents or events as mentioned above. In this case Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) will calculate the unused portion of travel and deduct cancellation fees. The remaining amount will be held in credit for future use by the participant. If the credit is not enough to cover any new travel bookings, the difference will be paid by the participant.

Your refusal to pay any reasonable adjustments to the price of your itinerary will be regarded as a cancellation of your booking.


10 – Agent

Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) acts as a travel agent only. We sell various travel related products on behalf of numerous transport and accommodation service providers, such as airlines, coach/rail and cruise line operators. Shanti Travel’s (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd) obligation to you is to make travel bookings on your behalf and to arrange relevant contracts between you and the travel service providers. We have no responsibility for these services, nor do we have authority to make any warranty or representation regarding their standard. All bookings are subject to the terms and conditions and limitations of liability imposed by these service providers. Your legal recourse is against the specific provider not Shanti Travel (Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd).


11 – Complaints

The booking terms and conditions of Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS, having registration No.838682219 R.C.S, having its registered office at 17 Rue Galilee, Paris) are detailed in this document. All bookings with Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) are subject to the terms and conditions and limitations of liability as mentioned here. By making a booking with Shanti Travel, you are agreeing to these terms and conditions. In the event of a contradiction between the terms and conditions mentioned here, on Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) itineraries and documents or those posted on the Internet sites of Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS), the latter will apply.


1 - Bookings and payment

1.1. All bookings are handled by the Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) team of Travel Experts (by email or telephone) or via our websites. Bookings are finalised only upon payment and the completion and receipt of the Participant Information form.

1.2. Booking Confirmation, Deposit and Modes of payment:
a. Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) will provide via email the Travel Itinerary, the Booking Confirmation document with our bank account and payment method details, and the deposit amount required to secure your booking plus the booking terms and conditions.

b. Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) will email the Participant Information form, which must be completed by the customer and submitted to Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) by email.

c. A deposit of 50% of the total amount of the booking must be paid by international bank transfer or credit card payment online via our bank’s payment portal within 7 days of the issuance of the Booking Confirmation. If the deposit is not received by Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) within this time, the booking may be cancelled without notice.

d. After Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) receive the 50% deposit and confirm your reservations, you will receive the document showing the receipt of the deposit and the remaining balance (50%). Please be aware that international bank transfers can take between 48 hours and 15 days to process.

e. The outstanding balance of the invoice is to be paid to Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) at least 21 days prior to arrival in Asia by bank transfer or online credit card payment. In some cases, such as group, conference or incentive bookings the balance will have to be paid 1 month prior to arrival.

f. For all bookings where travel is within 21 days, full payment is due immediately at the time of booking.

g. Any delay in the payment of the deposit or balance may result in the cancellation of your booking.


2 - Travel information

2.1. Passports and Visas

All travellers listed on the Participant Information form must be in possession of a valid passport and all relevant visas. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have valid travel documentation, including but not limited to passports and visas, which meet the requirements of immigration and other government authorities at every destination. Please refer to your nearest Consulate for more information regarding visa requirements. If your itinerary includes travel to any other country, please check on visa requirements for each country that you will visit. All passports require at least 6 months of validity from the planned date of departure. Any fines, penalties, payments or expenditures incurred as a result of such documents not meeting the requirements of those authorities will be your sole responsibility.

2.2 Non Transferable.

It should be noted that all travel documents issued are non- transferable. Such documents may include but are not limited to, airline tickets, hotel vouchers, tour vouchers, exchange orders or any other document used to confirm an arrangement with a service provider. Such documents may also be subject to conditions such as, but not limited to, being non-refundable, non-date-changeable and subject to cancellation or amendment fees.

2.3. Health and Safety Information.

Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) advises you to regularly consult your country of residence’s department of foreign affairs website. Here you will find any information pertaining to safe travel in Asia. Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) advises you to regularly consult the information provided by the proper authorities on the medical risks associated with travel to Asia. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are aware of any health requirements for your travel destinations and to ensure that you carry all necessary vaccination documentation. Please consult your doctor for more information.


3 - Changes to booking prior to departure

All changes to bookings will incur charges. These charges can be up to 100% of the cost of the booking, regardless of whether travel has commenced. Where we incur any liability for a change fee or charge for any booking which you change, you agree to indemnify us for the amount of that fee or charge. Your refusal to pay any reasonable change fees will be regarded as a cancellation of your booking.

Change fees for all confirmed bookings where a Booking Confirmation has been issued and a deposit has been received by Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) are detailed here with exception of cases covered at point 4.3 below:

  • Changes made by you prior to departure: a change fee of (30 €), flight change fee (15 € per person per ticket plus any fare difference, except in the case of non changeable airfares, where 100% of the cost of the new ticket will be charged), any additional supplier change fees.

Please advise Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) of the changes to your travel plans as early as possible by e-mail, telephone, or fax. Most hotels, airlines and suppliers charge a 100% cancellation penalty for changes to bookings between 7 days and 24 hours of departure. This may result in the forfeit of your deposit on these bookings.


4 – Conditions of cancellation

To adapt to the exceptional situation, the terms and conditions below, more flexible, will be apply. Valid for trips travelled in 2020 and 2021 and confirmed between August 1 and December 31, 2020.

Deposit (excluding France and Japan destinations)

  • 20% of the total price of the trip must be paid to confirm the reservation (Previously 50%)
  • Administrative fees for cancellations (excluding France and Japan destinations)
  • Free of charge (Previously 150/200 €)


Cancellation fees (excluding France and Japan destinations)

  • More than 31 days prior to arrival: 100% refund of the sums paid by the traveller
  • Between 30 and 15 days prior to arrival: 50% of the total amount of the trip will be held
  • Between 14 days and 7 days prior to arrival: 75% of the total amount of the trip will be held
  • Less than 7 days prior to arrival: 100% of the total amount of the trip will be held


For France and Japan destinations

  • The usual terms and conditions will apply (please refer 4.2)


All cancellations of bookings will incur charges. These charges can be up to 100% of the cost of the booking, regardless of whether travel has commenced. Where we incur any liability for a cancellation fee or charge for any booking which you cancel, you agree to indemnify us for the amount of that fee or charge.

4.1. To cancel your booking with Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS), please notify your travel insurance company and Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) in writing, stating the reason for the cancellation. Request an acknowledgement of receipt of your email or letter. Any cancellation fees will be calculated according to the date of receipt of the written advice of the cancellation of your booking. Please read your travel insurance policy carefully or contact your insurance provider to determine the policy conditions, level of cover and documentation required to make a claim against cancellation penalties charged by Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) or any of its suppliers.

4.2. Cancellation Fees

4.2.1. Cancellation fees for all confirmed bookings where a Booking Confirmation has been issued and a deposit has been received by Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) are detailed here with exception of cases covered at point 4.3 below:

  • Cancellation more than 30 days prior to departure: the 50% deposit paid by you will be refunded after the following fees are deducted: bank charges (60 €), booking fee (40 €), flight cancellation fee (full amount or according to the cancellation fees fixed by the airline).
  • Cancellation less than 30 days prior to departure: the 50% deposit will be kept. The amounts paid as balance will be refunded after the following fees are deducted: bank charges (60 €), booking fee (40 €), flight cancellation fee (full amount or according to the cancellation fees fixed by the airline).
  • Cancellation less than 7 days prior to departure: 100% of the amount will be kept. The no-show the departure date for any reason does not entitle to any refund. Any travel interrupted or shortened because of the participant for any reason does not entitle to any refund. Caution: in case of cancellation by you, promptly notify Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) – (Email, phone or fax).

Please advise Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) of the cancellation of your booking as early as possible by e-mail, telephone, or fax. Most hotels, airlines and suppliers charge a 100% cancellation penalty for cancellations between 7 days and 24 hours of departure. Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) will be unable to provide a refund for any such bookings.

4.2.2. For any booking, either fixed group departure or customized itinerary, if one or more participant travellers cancel their booking, and the itinerary will still be travelled by one or more participants, the price per person for the booking will be increased by cost of the cancelled participants share divided by the number of remaining participants. Any refusal of acceptance of the new per person cost will be regarded as a cancellation of the booking, and will be subject to the cancellation fees mentioned in point 4.

4.3 Cancellation fees for partial cancellation (valid for fixed departure group itineraries). If one or more participants registered on the same itinerary cancels their participation in an itinerary that will still be maintained for the other participants, the cancellation fees mentioned above (point 4.2.1) will be calculated for the participant who cancels on:

  • The cost per person of the services remaining unused at the time of cancellation for example flights and rail tickets
  • The full cost of the booking for the services booked on a group basis divided by the number of participants for example ground transportation and hotels.

4.4. Refunds. All refunds will processed within 12 weeks from the date of cancellation.


5 - Insurance

Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) and its Directors are insured against professional and civil liability by The Oriental insurance Company Limited (271600/48/2011/729).

Liability: Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) does not accept any liability of whatever nature, whether in contract, tort or otherwise, for the acts, omissions or default, whether negligent or otherwise, of any service provider, over whom we have no direct control. Under circumstances where liability cannot be excluded, such liability is limited to the value of the purchased travel arrangements. We do not accept any liability in contract, tort or otherwise for any injury, damage, loss, delay, additional expense or inconvenience caused directly or indirectly by force majeure or any other event which is beyond our control or which is not preventable by reasonable diligence on our part. In particular, but without limitation to these conditions, we accept no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury you suffer as a result of terrorism, war (including civil-war), coup, riot, civil disturbance or any type of criminal act. It is your responsibility to inform yourself about the safety and security situation in the places you are travelling to.

Travel Insurance: Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) recommends that you subscribe a personal travel insurance policy including repatriation cover to protect you against the above mentioned risks. Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) does not provide travel insurance. Please ensure that you subscribe a travel insurance policy that covers you for any adventure activities that you are participating in such as mountain trekking or scuba diving. For travel to high mountain regions and alpine areas, a specific insurance policy covering the expenses of search, rescue and repatriation in the event of an accident or illness is required. You will be asked to provide a copy of your travel insurance policy to Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) as well as policy details when you complete the Participant Information form at the time of booking. Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) also requests that you provide the contact details for a person to contact in case of emergency. Please make sure you have a copy of your travel insurance policy with you at all times. You are responsible for lodging any claims on your travel insurance policy (our guides and local staff assist you if required). Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) will assist you by contacting your Travel Insurance provider if you are incapacitated or unable to contact them, and will provide the invoices of any expenses incurred by you.


6 - Price

All prices are subject to availability and can be withdrawn or changed without notice.

6.1. Fixed Departure Group Itinerary Bookings

Please see our website for all prices. The price per person for the itinerary is based on the minimum number of participants mentioned in the offer of the itinerary (generally 2 to 4 participants). If less than the minimum numbers of participants register for the itinerary, Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) may need to change some components or logistics of the itinerary in order to guarantee the departure specified in our offer. In the event of this occurring, Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) may need to charge an additional “small groups” charge. You will be notified of this charge at least 21 days prior to the departure of the itinerary. This charge will be refunded to you if the minimum number of participants is achieved for the itinerary.

After the confirmation of the booking, the price of the itinerary can be changed if the price of flights transport, hotels or activities exceeds the price that was budgeted for in our quoted price for the itinerary. This supplement will be advised to you in the final invoice that will be emailed to you at least one week prior to departure.

6.2. "A la carte" and Customized Itinerary Bookings

Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) gives you the option you to personalize your itinerary, activities, mode of transport and to give you flexibility in travel dates, however until the itinerary and the travel dates are fixed, the price is subject to change. The price of the itinerary will be quoted to you on the travel itinerary provided to you by Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS); this price is valid for 7 days or as per the validity date, whichever is the sooner.

After the confirmation of the booking, the price of the itinerary can be changed if the price of flights, transport, hotels or activities exceeds the price that was budgeted for in our quoted price for the itinerary. This supplement will be advised to you in the final invoice that will be emailed to you at least one week prior to departure.

6.3. All Travel Bookings

All prices are valid for 7 days. After this time all prices are subject to change due to currency fluctuations. All quotes are subject to availability. Please confirm your booking as soon as possible to secure the quoted price and availability.

All prices are subject to change until paid in full due to currency fluctuations or government tax increases. After the deposit has been received, the outstanding balance is due 21 days prior to arrival. This balance amount is subject to change. If there is more than a 5% difference in the total price due to currency fluctuations or government tax increases between the time of booking (when Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) receives proof of payment of deposit) and the time of final payment, Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) will modify the price and inform you accordingly at least 21 days prior to arrival in Asia.

For any booking, either fixed or customized itinerary, if one or more participant travellers cancel their booking, and the itinerary will still be travelled by one or more participant travellers, the per person price for the booking will be increased by cost of the cancelled participants share divided by the number of remaining participants. Any refusal of acceptance of the new per person cost will be regarded as a cancellation of the booking, and will be subject to the cancellation fees mentioned in point 4.

Your refusal to pay any reasonable adjustments to the price of your itinerary will be regarded as a cancellation of your booking.


7 – Additional booking information to consider

7.1. At the time of creating and quoting your travel itinerary, we might not know the exact details of your international flights. Consequently, as a precaution Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) considers that the first and last day of your itinerary are entirely devoted to travel to and from your country of origin. However sometimes these days can finally include services such as activities, accommodation and transportation and this may affect the final cost of the itinerary.

7.2. All of our travel itineraries unless otherwise stated, are based on twin share accommodation. Single rooms may be available on request, if available we will advise you of the additional cost which will be shown as a supplement on your itinerary and quotation.


8 - Responsibility

Shanti Travel (Shanti Travel SAS) does not accept any liability of whatever nature, whether in contract, tort or otherwise in the following circumstances:

  • Loss or theft of tickets or other vouchers or travel documents by the traveler
  • For the acts, omissions or default, whether negligent or otherwise, of any service provider, over whom we have no direct control
  • Invalid or inadequate Travel Insurance, identification, passport, visa or vaccinations

Booking terms & conditions

The booking terms and conditions (T&C) of Shanti Adventure Tours Pvt Ltd (SATPL) are detailed in this document. All bookings with SATPL are subject to the below T&C which are governed by Sri Lankan Law and both parties agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the Sri Lankan Court at all times. By making a booking with SATPL, you are agreeing to those T&C. In the event of a contradiction between the T&C mentioned here, on SATPL itineraries and travel documents or those posted on the websites of SATPL, the latter shall prevail.


1 - Booking and payment

1.1. All bookings are handled by the SATPL team of Travel Advisors (by email or telephone) or via our websites. Bookings are finalized only upon full payment and receipt of the travelers’ details.
1.2. Booking Confirmation, Down payments and payment form:

a. SATPL will provide the Booking Confirmation document along with bank details.
b. A deposit of 50% of the total amount of the package must be paid by bank transfer or credit card (Visa or MasterCard) via our bank’s online payment portal to secure your booking.

Caution: In Sri Lanka, a hotel reservation is confirmed only by making an advance payment to the hotel. We can pre-book your hotel in each destination while you make the payment (subject to availability); these pre-reservations are generally valid for 8 days. We kindly request you to pay half of the package value at the earliest so that you stand a higher chance of securing your booking.

c. The balance invoice is to be paid to SATPL at least 21 days prior to your arrival in Sri Lanka.
In some cases, such as group, conference or incentive trips, the balance will have to be paid
1 month prior to the arrival in Sri Lanka.
d. There will be no binding contract for your holiday until SATPL has received payment of the deposit/sum required.
e. If you are booking within 21 days of the tour start date, then full payment is required at the time of booking.


2 - Travel information

2.1. Passports and Visas

All travelers listed on the Participant Information form must be in possession of a valid passport and relevant visas. It is your responsibility to make sure that you have valid travel documentation, including but not limited to passports and visas, which meet the requirements of immigration and other government authorities at every destination. Please refer to your nearest Sri Lankan Consulate for more information regarding visa requirements. If your itinerary includes travel to any other country besides Sri Lanka, please check on visa requirements for each country that you will visit. All passports require at least 6 months validity. Any fines, penalties, payments or expenditures incurred as a result of such documents not meeting the requirements of the authorities will be your sole responsibility.

2.2. Non Transferable / Non refundable.
Exceptionally, and provided you have given sufficient notice to SATPL, if you find yourself unable to travel, transfer of your booking to another person and full payment of additional costs arising from that transfer by the client, if any, will be considered.

Generally, it should be noted that all travel documents issued are non- transferable. Such documents may include but are not limited to, airline tickets, hotel vouchers, tour vouchers, or any other document used to confirm an arrangement with a service provider. Such documents may also be subject to conditions such as, but not limited to, being non-refundable, non-date-changeable and subject to cancellation or amendment fees.

2.3. Health and Safety Information.
SATPL advises you to regularly consult your country of residence’s department of foreign affairs website. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are aware of any health requirements for your travel destinations and to ensure that you carry all necessary vaccination documentation. 3.1. Cancellation procedure
To cancel your booking with SATPL, please notify your travel insurance company and SATPL in writing, explaining the reason for the cancellation. Any cancellation fees will be calculated according to the date of receipt of the written advice of the cancellation of your booking. Please read your travel insurance policy carefully and contact your insurance to find out about the conditions and level of coverage you are entitled to as well as documentation required to obtain full reimbursement of your trip by the insurance. SATPL will provide all relevant documents whenever required by your insurance.

Change fees for all confirmed bookings where a Booking Confirmation has been issued and a deposit received by SATPL are detailed below:

Cancellation fee
a. [30 to 21 days prior to arrival]: 25% of the Trip value will be retained by SATPL
b. [20 to 10 Days prior to arrival]: 50% of the Trip value will be retained by SATPL
c. [9 to 2 days prior to arrival]: 75% of the Trip value will be retained by SATPL
d. Less than 2 days prior to arrival: 90% of the Trip value will be retained by SATPL
e. No show : 100% of the Trip value will be retained by SATPL

During peak season (December 15th till March 15th and from July 15th till August 15th) cancellation one month before tour start may incur cost of up to 100% of the package.

Please notify SATPL of any changes regarding your travel plans in writing as early as possible. Most hotels, airlines and suppliers charge a 100% cancellation fee for changes.

3.2. Cancellation fees for partial cancellation (valid for fixed departure group itineraries). If one or more participant registered on the same trip cancel their participation in a tour that will still be maintained for the remaining participants, the cancellation fees mentioned above will be calculated on prorata basis and subject to point 3.1 of the T&C.

3.3. Complaints and refunds

All refunds will be processed within 12 weeks from the date of cancellation.

Please do not delay in contacting us in the event of a complaint. Do contact us while you’re on tour which would be the easiest way to settle your claim as early as possible. In the event where we are unable to solve your problem before your return, then you should contact SATPL within the next 28 days maximum following your trip to Sri Lanka. Disputes, if any, are subject to the local courts in Colombo and Sri Lankan law.


4 – Insurance & liability

SATPL and its Directors are insured against professional and civil liability & Chartis Tour operator liability contract #P/030104/2011/7

Travel Insurance: SATPL strongly recommends that you subscribe a personal travel insurance policy including repatriation cover for the above mentioned risks. SATPL does not constitute a substitute for travel insurance. You are required to provide your travel insurance details and mention it in Participant Information form at the time of booking. SATPL also requests that you provide emergency contact details. Please make sure you have a copy of your travel insurance policy with you at all times. You are responsible for lodging any claims to your travel insurance policy (our guides and local staff will assist you if required). SATPL will assist you by contacting your Travel Insurance if you find yourself unable to do so.
Quite often, Visa and MasterCard offer cancellation and repatriation insurance policy*. (*conditions apply, please check with your credit card service provider)

Liability: Under circumstances where liability cannot be excluded, liability is limited to the value of the purchased travel arrangements. We do not accept any liability in contract, tort or otherwise for any injury, damage, loss, delay, additional expense or inconvenience caused directly or indirectly by force majeure or any other event which is beyond our control or which is not preventable by reasonable diligence on our part. In particular, but without limitation to these conditions, we accept no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury you suffer as a result of terrorism, war (including civil-war), coup, riot, civil disturbance or any type of criminal act. It is your responsibility to inform yourself about the safety and security situation in the places you are travelling to.

SATPL does not accept any liability of whatever nature, whether in contract, tort or otherwise in the following circumstances:

  • Loss or flight tickets or other vouchers or travel documents by the traveler,
  • For the acts, omissions or default, whether negligent or otherwise, of any service provider, over whom we have no direct control
  • Invalid or inadequate Travel Insurance, identification, passport, visa or vaccinations. • Any loss, damage or injury you suffer as a result of unforeseeable and insurmountable incidents or events including but not limited to: terrorism, war (including civil-war), coup, riot, civil disturbance or any type of criminal act, strikes external to SATPL (SATPL), technical or administrative failures external to SATPL , obstruction of airspace, bankruptcy of a supplier or partner of SATPL , bad weather, natural disaster, delays, including delays in postal services in the case of sending replacement plane tickets, passports etc, breakdowns, loss of luggage or other personal effects or misconnection of flights or other modes of transport. Any delays or necessary changes to an itinerary due to the above mentioned causes will be at the expense of the traveler. SATPL will not provide any compensation or refunds in such situations. Possible additional expenses related to any of the situations mentioned above including but not limited to taxes, hotel, car park fees or replacement and /or reissue of travel documents will remain the responsibility of the traveler.
  • SATPL reserves the right to change the dates, schedules or routes of itineraries, or cancel bookings to ensure the safety of the travellers and/or at the injunction of an administrative authority, as necessitated by unforeseeable and insurmountable incidents or events as mentioned above. In this case SATPL will calculate the unused portion of travel and deduct cancellation fees. The remaining amount will be held in credit for future use by the participant. If the credit is not enough to cover any new travel bookings, the difference will be paid by the participant.

Your refusal to pay any reasonable adjustments to the price of your itinerary will be regarded as a cancellation of your booking.


5 - Price revision

The price of your holiday will not be subject to surcharges except in the following cases:

  • Variations in transportation costs
  • Exchange rates fluctuation.
  • Government tax and entry ticket increase

SATPL will absorb any increase equal to up to 5% of your holiday price without price modification or surcharge for the client. If the increase exceeds 5% a surcharge will be applied to your holiday package and a revised invoice will be sent to you. You may decide to cancel your booking within 14 days of the date of receipt of the revised Invoice and obtain a refund in accordance with section 3.1 of the T&C.


6 - International flights details

6.1. Sometimes at the time of creating and quoting your travel itinerary, we do not know the exact details of your international flights. If you fail to provide your flight details and agree to the itinerary, the subsequent changes which will be required will be at your full expense.

Regarding Maldives especially, your flight details have to be communicated at the earliest in order for SATPL to confirm the transfer (Seaplane or Speed Boat) to the atoll of your choice and the booking. If the flight details are not communicated properly and transfer cannot happen the charges incurred will be borne by the client.


7 – Agent

SATPL acts as a travel agent only and is a mere intermediary between you and the service providers. We sell various travel related products on behalf of numerous transport and accommodation service providers, such as airlines, coach/rail and cruise line operators. We have no responsibility for these services, nor do we have authority to make any warranty or representation regarding their standard. All bookings are subject to the T&C and limitations of liability imposed by these service providers. Where a third party or other Tour Operator is used, their Terms and Conditions supersede the ones set out in this contract and the client is bound by those.

Your legal recourse is against the specific provider not SATPL.
