Family Trip in the Footsteps of Sinbad the Sailor

Salaam aleykoum! Your driver greets you at Muscat airport and takes you to your hotel. After a moment's rest, you begin your visit with the Muttrah Souk, one of the oldest in the Arab world. Wander through its enchanting alleys, their stalls overflowing with goods. After the frenzy of Muscat's old quarter, head to Al Alam Palace, the official residence of His Majesty Sultan Haitham. Night at the hotel.

Today, you head towards Wadi Al Arbeieen, located in the Al Sharqiyah region. Discover this spectacular wadi with its translucent natural pools, the gentle sound of water flowing through channels and the whistling of birds. With the breeze blowing through your hair, take in the lush vegetation of date palms and other exotic trees casting their shade over picturesque villages. Night at a guesthouse at the heart of the wadi.

In the morning you visit the Bimmah Sinkhole, a deep crater filled with azure water and surrounded by lush vegetation in an arid landscape. Once refreshed, your trip continues in the town of Sur, a coastal town with a gentle, timeless charm. After lunch, you head to the Wahiba Sands. The dunes stretch as far as the eye can see, in ochre and orange hues, reflecting gold in the setting sun. After an adrenaline-filled 4x4 excursion, you spend your evening under the starry sky around a campfire, enjoying the warm welcome of the Bedouins.

Today you leave this golden desert to head to the country's former capital, Nizwa. The imposing fort with its circular cannon tower rises before you. You visit the souk and buy souvenirs before your lunch break. Now on the road to Jebel Akhdar, your guide takes you through the old streets of Birkat Al Mouz and its mudbrick houses. You reach the top of the green mountain, where the rose, fruit and nut plantations whet your appetite. Dinner and night at the hotel.

Early morning departure, your first stop is Misfat Al Abriyyin, a village surrounded by date palms where the ruins of old houses blend in. Al Hamra is your next visit; it is Oman's oldest village, with its clay houses dating back 400 years. After lunch, the adventure continues, driving through wild countryside to reach the summit of Jebel Shams. Oman's highest peak rises to 3,005 metres, offering cool air and a spectacular view over 'Oman's Grand Canyon'. Night at the hotel.

Your adventure continues along the trail of Wadi Bani Awf, a thrilling excursion through the mountains. Its winding route recalls your favourite adventure films, combining canyons, ravines and villages. Stop at Bilad Sayt, a postcard-perfect village bathed in the mountains. Your visit continues to Nakhal, its fort and its maze of corridors. Perched on a rocky hill, the fort offers a magnificent view over the Hajar Mountains and the palm grove.

After breakfast, you visit one or more of the nine neighbouring Daymaniyat islands. Oman's coastline unfolds before your eyes, with the cemetery bay, Al Alam Palace, rock carvings and many other curiosities. Playful dolphins may come to say 'hello' during your crossing. Once you reach the islands, you put on your mask and snorkel and set off to discover the richness of the coral reefs. Return and night in Muscat.

It's already your last day in Oman. You relax at your hotel and reflect on the incredible moments you've experienced. You enjoy the Omani beach and its fine sand one last time. You head home with a head full of encounters and memories. See you soon on the roads of Asia!
