Directly at the destination, as a local producer of travel, we want to reveal the hidden gems and good tips that we experience here in Asia. Living on the ground also means sharing the local culture with you: the history of a country, its customs, its people, and its food.

Since 2005, the experts of the Shanti Travel group have been dedicated to helping you discover Asia from the inside, with teams in local agencies. Passionate individuals across the Asian continent, finding the best possible itineraries and creating custom trips that reflect you. Your local travel agency crafts tailor-made stays across Asia.

In 2020, COVID shook us, but we managed to overcome these temporary difficulties, which affected us all our drivers, hotel partners, and experience creators, in particular.

The Shanti team consists of passionate individuals, nearly half of whom have been with us for over 10 years. Shanti is also a large community of 100,000 travelers that we invite you to join, so you can benefit from their experience.

In each of our trips, we pay great attention to respecting the DNA of SHANTI, which can be summed up by the philosopher Fabrice Midal’s thought:

As we are convinced that meeting others fosters empathy and understanding, we make it a point to create journeys centered around sharing and exchange. It is through this difference in travel that a positive impact arises, not only for travelers but also for the locals.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to inspire and support more sustainable travel and a more conscious society. We empower all those involved in our journey, travelers, partners, and local communities, to better understand and embrace the challenges of sustainability. Through responsible tourism, we aim to reduce our environmental impact while creating positive, lasting contributions to the communities we visit and the world we share.

Our sustainability approach

Our mission above guides how we work every day. We rely on local teams in each country, we build trips around real exchange with local communities, and we try to reduce the environmental impact of travel. Among other initiatives, we support carbon absorption projects.

Our Travelife recognitions, office by office

Travelife is an international sustainability programme for tour operators and travel agents, with three recognition levels: (1) Travelife Engaged, (2) Travelife Partner and (3) Travelife Certified. Four of our offices have been independently assessed by Travelife. Each recognition covers only the office named in the table. Our other offices are not covered, and the other commitments described on this page are our own and have not been verified by Travelife.

What Travelife Certified means (our Indonesia office)

Our Indonesia office, PT Shanti Adventure Tours, has achieved Travelife Certified recognition, the highest recognition level within the internationally recognised Travelife sustainability programme for tour operators and travel agents. It is awarded following a comprehensive independent on-site audit based on the Travelife Certified Standard. During the audit, it is verified that the office complies with more than 200 mandatory sustainability criteria covering areas including environmental management, climate action, biodiversity, working conditions, human rights, local communities, sustainable supply chain management, customer communication and responsible business practices. The audit confirms that its sustainability management system and sustainability practices have been demonstrably implemented throughout the entire organisation. To maintain this recognition, the office is recertified every two years.

What Travelife Partner means (our India, Japan and Sri Lanka offices)

Our India, Japan and Sri Lanka offices have achieved Travelife Partner recognition, the entry recognition level within the international Travelife sustainability programme for tour operators and travel agents. It confirms their commitment to further improving the sustainability of their operations through a structured sustainability management system and recognised sustainability practices. It is awarded following an independent assessment against 60 mandatory Travelife Partner criteria, covering each office's sustainability policy, objectives, management system, key sustainability practices and supporting documentation, and it is independently reassessed every two years. Travelife Partner is also the basis for progressing to the highest level, Travelife Certified, which requires an independent on-site audit against more than 200 mandatory criteria.
