Day 1

Welcome to Chiang Rai Airport, Thailand, by your guide. Transfer to your hotel in the centre of Chiang Rai. Take off the evening to relax. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2

3h30 by road
This morning you cross the border a few kilometres from Chiang Rai to go to Laos. Your Thai speaking guide accompanies you to the border to help you through the process. Then you cross the Mekong River over the 4th Friendship Bridge to reach Laos. Once you've arrived on the other side, a new English speaking guide welcomes you and together you go to the mountainous region of Bokeo, inhabited by multiple ethnicities. Take a market tour at Housseay before taking the road to Luang Namtha. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3

Easy walk of 5-6 hours
Today you visit the protected area of Nam Ha, with luxuriant forests, bamboo thickets, banana trees, and many other varieties of flora. You head to a lovely waterfall while listening to the birds singing all around you. Your guide will teach you how to imitate them. After a picnic enjoyed along the way, you resume your walk to Ban Nam Deat Mai, a village of the Akha people. On getting to know the villagers, you learn a lot about their culture, architecture, and Akha traditions. After dinner, you are treated to a massage. This is a custom the Akha people traditionally offer to all visitors who spend the night at their home. Overnight at homestay.
Day 4

Moderate walk of 4-5 hours
Early in the morning, the village is active and your host Akha are already carrying on with their daily tasks. After breakfast, you set out this time to visit Yao villages. This is an opportunity for you to discover their beautiful traditional handicrafts. Pass through the green fields of this charming region, stopping by in some villages inhabited by the Akha and Tai Lue, to reach your vehicle. Return to Luang Namtha and overnight at the hotel.
Day 5

3 hours by road
Take the pretty mountain roads to reach Oudomxay. You will make a few stops on the way in ethnic minority villages to observe, discuss, and share some good times. Once in Oudomxay, visit Mount Pou Tha. Then stroll through the market. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 6

Drive to Muang Khua today. On the way, take occasional breaks to discover a traditional market of the Khmus and also uncover the secrets of the manufacture of traditional Lao alcohol. Upon arrival in Muang Khua, step on a private boat and sail on the Nam Ou River. The quietness of the river and the sight of the lively banks will introduce you to the true essence of Laos. You arrive at Nong Khiau, the land of the Thai Leu, Hmongs and Khmus. The white cliffs dotted with greenery all around make it an exceptional sight. Overnight at hotel.
Day 7

Moderate walk of 3 hours
You start your day of adventure with a short cruise on the Nam Ou River. You moor near a small town Lao which you visit before leaving on foot to the magnificent "Hundred Waterfalls" whose natural pools still remain relatively unknown. After a picnic at the local waterfront, you walk around and admire the beautiful valley of the Nam Ou. Then you proceed back to the shore where you board your boat again and reach Nong Khiau. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 8

This morning you go by car to the site where the Nam Ou River joins the famous Mekong River. You explore the sacred caves of Pak Ou and the hundreds of Buddha statues. After lunch in a restaurant along the Mekong, you embark on a cruise to Luang Prabang. Let yourself be lulled by the famous river and enjoy the scenery on the banks. Once in Luang Prabang, you begin to discover the treasures of the city with the temples of Long Khoun and Chom Pet. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 9

Easy to moderate cycling tour of 6 hours
Today you discover the Luang Prabang region and its surrounding villages on a cycle. Meet the weavers of Ban Phanom, the Youane fishermen of Ban Picknoi, the Youane and Leu people of Ban Pick Noi, the Hmongs of Ban Bohae, and many more ethnic groups spread all over the region. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 10

This day is dedicated to exploring Luang Prabang, its colonial architecture, its history, and its temples. You start with the oldest temples in the city, Ahan Wat Wat Visoun and the That Mak Mo (restored by Henri Mouhot). At the heart of the old town on the Luang Prabang peninsula, you continue your tour of the temples with the Wat Xieng Thong. Thereafter, transfer to the airport for your return flight. End of services.
